Writing a will

We all know that we should have a will, but how many of us actually have one?

In England and Wales, only around a third of eligible adults actually have a will. So what is stopping us from completing a simple document that will save loved ones a lot of grief in the future?

For most people, a major stumbling block is cost. Lawyers are famous for charging a lot for even the simplest documents. While you will rarely actually pay more than £200 for a will from a qualified solicitor, many people feel uncomfortable paying this.

Another reason that people may not create a will is that they don't want to think about death. While this is understandable, not having a legally binding will makes a traumatic time for your next of kin even harder.

There are many ways to write your will. You can visit a solicitor, use a will writing kit or write a will online. The choice is yours!
